Who am I looking for?
I am looking for one professional flatmate who is an authentic, lovely person to live with, who is sociable and will enjoy catching up throughout the week when we do cross paths, who is good at communicating and coordinating the usual flatmate admin and who is able to help maintain a clean, calm environment at home. My queer community and friendships are extremely important to me and I would love to live with someone who fits in with the life and network that I have built since moving to London. The landlord has specifically asked for no couples.
A bit about the flat:
The flat and room are both spacious compared to other flats for similar rent prices in London due to the fact that it was unfurnished when I moved in, however at this point I own a lot of furniture and so it will not feel unfurnished. There will be the option of having a bed frame and mattress kept in your room also if needed. The room has an in built wardrobe and there are two large cupboards for storage in the hallway. The flat has a hallway, one bathroom, two bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/dining/living room and a large balcony that runs the length of the flat. The landlords are so lovely and helpful too!
The flat is situated almost equidistant between Bethnal Green and Mile End tube stations, being around a 10/15 minute walk to either which makes travelling around London and commuting extremely easy. There are also various bus stops within five minutes walk away and a Santander bike station just over the road. I have loved living in this area, being a short walk away from Victoria Park, shops, restaurants, brunch places, take-aways, a gorgeous book shop and Mile End Climbing Wall amongst other things. Taking a slightly longer walk you can reach Victoria Park Village, Broadway Market and Brick Lane very easily without any need for public transport.
A bit about me:
I am a 30 year old queer man who has lived in London for three years since moving here from Manchester where I am originally from. I work as a primary school teacher so I am out of the flat 7am-5pm in the week but have various school holidays during which I am home more often. I have a huge range of interests including music, food, film photography, D&D, reading, games nights, dinner parties, gigs, raves, movies and more! As I mentioned above, my friends and queer community are very important to me, but we are just as likely to gather at home to watch queer cinema or go to a drag show as we are to attend the occasional queer rave (we attended Howl Pride this year for example rather than travel in to Soho). I am in a relationship with my boyfriend who lives 10 minutes walk away in Bethnal Green so I will often go and stay there one, sometimes two, evenings in the week and he will stay at mine once or twice every two weeks or so.
I am a huge music lover who collects vinyl records (there is a record player in the living room that is free to use), attends gigs and raves, writes or plays music (with headphones in usually) and makes playlists. I also love food, going to restaurants, cooking in the kitchen (spending a long time on a meal when I have the energy) and hosting the occasional dinner party. I also run the odd games nights or D&D session for my friends here and there.
The images of living room and balcony wouldn’t upload so if not included still I can send :)
